OT Assistants
How can a therapy assistant help me and my child?
It can be difficult to translate skills learnt in therapy to daily life. A therapy assistant can support your child to practice the skills they learn in therapy and apply these throughout their day, at home, school or out in the community.
Our therapy assistants work in collaboration with your Occupational Therapist to implement an individualised treatment plan to support your child to work towards their unique goals.
Therapy assistants can play a variety of roles based on you and your child’s unique needs. These may include;
- Providing one-on-one care, support and companionship to your child at home, school or out in the community
- Providing individualised learning support at school to assist your child to develop fine motor skills, behaviour and attention
- Attend OT sessions with your child and later implement strategies in daily life to support to application of skills
- Support your child’s participation in daily routines or leisure activities at home
- Provide social and emotional support for your child to participate in the community, e.g., shopping, social outings or leisure activities such as visiting the park and learning to ride and bike or developing play skills on the play equipment
Who are they?
- All our therapy assistants are OT students working towards completing their OT degree
- Posses a working with children check, driver’s license, a roadworthy insured vehicle, and a police check
- Provided with high quality training and support from your Occupational Therapist
- Covered by our Professional Indemnity Insurance and workcover
- Friendly, caring, reliable and fun!
