Tiny Tackers Therapy
At Tiny Tackers Therapy, our Occupational Therapists support children to participate in the everyday activities that are important to them and their families.
Occupational Therapy focuses on helping children develop the skills they need for everyday life, whether that’s getting dressed independently, participating at kindergarten or school, making friends, playing, or managing daily routines. We work closely with families to identify what’s important to their child and support them to build confidence, independence, and participation in meaningful activities.
Our goal is to help children develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to participate in the activities that matter most to them.
Occupations, or everyday activities, are typically grouped into three key areas:
Self-care
Self-care includes the everyday tasks children do (or are learning to do) to look after themselves. This may include:
Eating and drinking
Dressing
Toileting
Personal hygiene
Sleep and daily routines
Learning & productivity
For children, "work" often means learning and participating at kindergarten, school, or childcare. This may include:
Drawing, writing, and cutting
Following instructions and routines
Organising belongings and materials
Attention and concentration
Participating in classroom activities
play & leisure
Play is one of the most important occupations of childhood and is how children learn about themselves, others, and the world around them. This may include:
Playing with toys
Pretend and imaginative play
Taking turns and sharing
Playing with other children
Participating in hobbies, sports, and community activities
Assessment
We assess the development of your child and consider how this may impact their ability to complete everyday activities. This may include formal assessment or an observation of your child's skills in the home, at Kindergarten or at school.
